The answer to the mystery canbe found by examining Japans culture, education, and employment system. Japanssuccess is not honest a case of good technique and technology in business, but areal recognition and development of the necessary human skills.     A cleanse understanding of the Japanese society provides the framework tounderstanding the workings of Japanese business (and possibly the Japanesemind.) The focu ssings of the Japanese provide a conception for their economicadaptability in modern times. Japan is a culture where human relations andpreservation of harmony are the most important elements in society. Japan is relativelyclosed to immigration to outside countries. However, this feeling of superioritydoes not erupt them from being careful. Obviously there are many problemswith the way they run their country. Yet, no one can ignore the economic successthat Japan has had. The roots of the suc cess can be traced back to the skillsdeveloped by culture and education, and the healthy attitudes developed bythe Japanese employment system. The Western world could learn much from whatmakes the Japanese successful in business. It is not equitable a case of adoptingJapanese techniques and technology but of recognizing and developing thenecessary human skills. The East has borrowed heavily from the West in improvingits business instruction execution the West could also take note of the lessons ofJapanese history and culture and consider applying them in its own organizations.
